We now live in a world run by smartphones. Not only do these phones provide us with immediate information right at our fingertips 24/7 we can do anything from a phone application (or more commonly known as an app); purchase movie tickets, order groceries, watch television, play games, see what our friends are up to on their travels, do your banking, the list is endless. So why not do something better for your health? A number of organisations have designed apps that specifically target current and former service members. They provide information and resources for everything from improving your health and wellness to mental health support.
On Track – This app will help you manage your alcohol consumption by tracking the number and type of drinks consumed and calculating the amount of money spent. You can find out how much exercise is needed to burn off those kilojoules consumed and review the impact this has on your wellbeing and fitness.
PTSD Coach – This app provides information, tools and direct links for PTSD. It aims to help you learn and manage symptoms that commonly occur after trauma.
High RES – This app can assist in managing daily stresses of military life, deployment, transition to civilian life and life post-service. You can test your physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioural reactions to stress and adjust your response in real time by using the stress management tools in the app.
