Meals on Wheels Volunteers will be continuing their vital community service leading up to ANZAC Day and will be delivering over 2500 RSL Branded ANZAC Biscuits to their clients.
The Cairns RSL Sub-Branch has also provided a long stem Poppy for each of the Cairns Meals on Wheels clients, which will be delivered with the ANZAC Biscuits.
President of Meals on Wheels Cairns, Ms. Joan Cadman said, “Meals on Wheels Cairns was established back in 1968. Volunteers have been delivering meals for over 50 plus years to the Cairns region. This ensures seniors stay healthy and live independently in their homes. ANZAC Day is a very special and important time for so many of our clients, with many being veterans, partners, or families of veterans.”
Cairns RSL Sub-Branch President Mr. Jeffrey Langham said, “To be able to bring the spirit of ANZAC to those who may not be able to attend the Service and March on the day is a great initiative that the Cairns RSL Sub-Branch is pleased to support.
Cairns Community Services agencies such as Meals on Wheels Cairns and the Cairns RSL Sub-Branch provide vital caring volunteer services within the Cairns community”.
Meals on Wheels Cairns would like to also acknowledge ABC Radio “Qld Gives Campaign” for their kind contribution which has enabled this initiative.
