DESCRIPTION:On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month\, two minutes of silence is observed across the country to mark the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front during the First World War after over four years of brutal warfare. \nThe moment in 1918 when the hostilities ceased was originally named Armistice Day\, becoming a time when allied nations honoured the brave sacrifices made by all who fought and lost their lives during the First World War. At the end of the Second World War\, the Australian and British governments renamed November 11 Remembrance Day to mark and remember all who have fallen in times of war. \nJoin us this Remembrance Day as we pay our respects in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. \nWREATH REGISTRATION \nIf you wish to place a wreath during the service please register by Monday\, 6 November on 4249 3030 or admin@crslsb.org.au

DESCRIPTION:When times are tough\, Australians have always relied on the distinctive qualities of mateship\, humour\, ingenuity\, courage and endurance to get us through. Known as the ANZAC Spirit\, these five qualities have defined Australians ever since the first troops landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in World War I. \nIn the current climate\, we’re reminding Australians that we all bear these qualities within us\, ready to come to the fore when we need them. \nThis year on ANZAC Day\, please join us in standing at the end of your driveway\, on your balcony or porch\, or in your living room to remember all those who have served and sacrificed for this nation. \nFrom 6am\, RSL Queensland will be streaming a short commemorative service\, comprising The Ode\, The Last Post\, a minute’s silence\, and Reveille. \nDon’t forget to share your photos and videos with the hashtags #ANZACspirit #lightupthedawn and pledge to participate at https://rslqld.org/Whats-On/ANZAC-Day \n\nEvery year at Christmas time we put up decorations. In the lead up to ANZAC Day\, every year\, let’s start a tradition of putting up decorations around our homes and yards in memory of our ANZACs.
