Announcement from the Cairns RSL Sub Branch Board of Directors – Interim President

Dear Valued Member,

The Board of Directors, as advised to the membership, has held a ‘Special Board Meeting’ to look at a way forward for the Sub Branch and to appoint an interim President. The Board has elected Mr. Ben Hemphill as the interim President. The Board is aiming to hold a Special General Meeting that would allow members to nominate for the position of President and for the membership to be able to vote.

Ben has been on the Board of Directors since 2014 and has been the Treasurer since 2015. The Board felt that he was the logical choice to fulfill the role until the membership had a chance to vote for a President. Ben will continue to fulfill the role of Treasurer, taking the opportunity to train a successor.

Due to an extended absence of the Executive Officer/Secretary, the Board has nominated Mr. Nathan Shingles as the Interim Secretary. The Board is committed to ensuring that the Cairns RSL Sub Branch Board continues to work within the mandate of our Constitution.

The day-to-day operations of the Sub Branch will continue as normal with the ongoing fantastic efforts of Lucy, Michelle, and Gerry. The Board will be working with the team to ensure that members’ services and veteran welfare are maintained.

The Board would encourage the membership to consider a position on the Board, to fill a casual vacancy position, or to nominate as President.
