Kick Start aims to help you increase your social connections, physical health and wellbeing through exercise, nutrition and lifestyle support. It is a 12-week program and includes one physical activity session per week and six health education seminars.
The program covers a range of topics including healthy eating, easy to prepare meals, physical activity, and lots more.
We are running three 12-week group sessions. The group session will be run on Tuesday mornings at 7:00am at various locations throughout Cairns. The time and days for education seminars will be confirmed during the program. The three session will run over the following periods:
- 17th March – 2nd June
- 16th June – 1st September
- 15th September – 1st December
Please note: There is a maximum of 10 people per group.
The group will meet at a designated location for weekly activity sessions and education seminar. Experienced exercise and health professionals will provide participants with a structed and supervised program.
For those with 90% attendance at the program, there will be an ALL EXPENSES PAID celebratory event. Date to be advised based on group availability. The group will have a choice of one of the following three activities:
- A day out on the reef – https://passions.com.au/
- Babinda Kayaking or paddle boarding – https://babindakayaking.com.au/
- Lunch Function – venue/location to be determined by the group. All lunch expenses will be paid for by the Sub Branch.
This is a FREE program for all participants, fully funded by the Cairns RSL Sub Branch. Own transport to and from activities is required at individuals expense.

All participants are required to get medical clearance from their General Practitioner before commencing the program. Simply book an appointment with you GP and ask for a medical clearance to participate in physical activity. For example resistance and cardiovascular training.
