Morning Tea & Guest Speaker: Commonwealth War Graves Odyssey with Mic Whitty
The Cairns RSL Sub Branch warmly invites members to join for a special Morning Tea and Guest Presentation featuring Mic Whitty, former Royal Australian Air Force serviceman and founder of the Commonwealth War Graves Odyssey.
Mic will share the powerful story of his extraordinary 30-year cycling journey to visit all 24,486 Commonwealth War Graves cemeteries worldwide — honouring the service men and women who gave their lives during the First and Second World Wars.
Inspired by the rediscovery of his grandfather’s 1916 pocket diary, Mic began his journey in 2015 by retracing his grandfather’s footsteps on the Western Front. What started as a one-year project has grown into a lifelong mission of remembrance, reflection, and respect. Mic plans to complete his journey on 15 August 2045 (Victory over Japan Day), marking the centenary of the end of World War II.

“Every Commonwealth War Grave represents a life given in service — someone’s son, daughter, partner or mate.” — Mic Whitty

Morning tea will be provided.
We look forward to welcoming you to this special event of remembrance and connection.
