Join a crew of young Australians and embark on a life-changing 11-day journey – learning not only how to sail a square-rigged tall ship, but how to lead, support others and work together as a team.
The Cairns RSL Sub Branch is pleased to announce the recommencement of its 11 day Youth Development STS Young Endeavour Scholarship, worth $2,000.
There is one scholarship available and covers all meals and accommodation aboard the ship. The successful participant will also receive a Kit Bag containing; a Young Endeavour crew shirt, hat, sailing gloves, water bottle and voyage handbook.
* Travel, travel insurance and transfers to and from the ship are not included.
To be considered for the Scholarship you will need to be:
- Currently enrolled in a Cairns Region School
- Aged between 16 and 18 years of age when the Voyage sets sail.
- A dependant of a serving or ex serving Veteran.
- Submit a typed proposal (two page maximum) outlining:
- Why you should be considered for the scholarship.
- What you hope to gain from being involved in the scholarship.
- What are you going to do with the information and skills gained from your involvement.
- Confirm that you are able to attend the Voyage from 28 July to 7 August 2021 – Cairns to Airlie Beach.
- Confirm are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Confirm that you:
- Are in good general health
- Weigh less than 120kg
- Able to swim 50 metres
