Meet our newly appointed Kokoda Hall Museum Curator – Hayden Bradley

The Kokoda Hall Museum Team is pleased to announce the appointment of Hayden Bradley as the new Curator. We’re very sad to say goodbye to Mark Richardson and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours.

Hayden joined the Royal Australian Navy in 2015 as an electronics technician. Upon completion of training, Hayden worked at the weapons range at HMAS Cerberus for three months and was posted to HMAS Stirling. Whilst there he studied Certificate 4 in Electronics and Communications Systems. He was given the opportunity to post to Cairns where he served on HMAS Paluman and in Fleet Support Unit. In 2021 Hayden received a career-ending shoulder injury and was medically discharged.

Having been abruptly discharged from the Navy Hayden was at a loss with what to do. Having previously met a Cairns RSL Sub Branch volunteer at a commemorative service Hayden joined the Sub Branch team. Originally volunteering as a Wellbeing Officer, visiting Veterans in hospital, it wasn’t long before Hayden met the Kokoda Hall Museum Team and found his passion for military history. At a recent museum meeting Hayden was elected as the Curator.

“The focus of the museum for the past six years has been on the construction, refurbishment, and restoration of many items now on display. Now that we have a world-class museum it’s time to start promoting it within our community and wider,” Hayden said.

“I look forward to bringing fresh energy to the museum and working closely with the Museum Team to further enrich the museums’ reputation,” Hayden said.

The Kokoda Hall Museum is open Monday – Friday. 9:00am – 3:00pm and Saturdays 10:00am – 2:00pm.
